Worcester Snoezelen

Worcester Snoezelen

Worcester Snoezlen are a small independent charity, based in Worcester, United Kingdom. They run a multi-sensory environment for people with severe learning disabilities. Our centre is a community resource visited by over 400 people every week.

The world of people who have profound learning disabilities is often a confusing and threatening place over which they have no control, they offer an environment they can explore through sight, hearing, smell or touch.

What is snoezelen?

Coined by two psychologists, snoezelen is a contraction of the Dutch words words for sniffing and dozing. The word evokes a vague, undefinable feeling of sensory well-being and has come to be commonly used to describe any multi-sensory room. The environment enhances quality of life for people with severe learning disabilities.
